Good point. I work in the motor trade and earn average wage and drive a £110k car that isn't mine. I get funny looks when I go shopping at Aldi. So it works both ways. 🙏

It's not snobbery necessarily. It's less aggression often. The odds of aggression and bad manners is vastly reduced in Waitrose.

I actually find the behaviour worse in Waitrose - gently parented kids causing havoc, I got shouted at in the car park by a guy in a rugby shirt. Entitled people

I work in Waitrose and earn and have less money than most of the customers but they are not snobby. People are always judging the customers who shop at Waitrose. Those customers are not rude either.

Nope. Not true. It’s happening. Saw it with my own eyes the other day. Pink pjs and fluffy slippers. Don’t care if it’s Asda, Morrisons, Marks or Waitrose - get dressed people! Show some self respect.

I earn minimum wage but will go to nice cafe one in a while for a drink in nice surroundings. I’m no snob but PJs at supermarket is downright unpleasant to witness and is also lazy and disrespectful

It is the attitude you act outside which make people JUDGE. This is the world we live in, a thing called decency, I happen to see a rough sleeper wear poor clothes with holes and ripped lines, clean and neat, the way he moved and talked mean decent.

Great post -I drive from my multimillion pound home, park my Bentley in the local Asda, queue up with & mix with our fellow community shoppers, its convenience and never about who goes where for show.

People can wear what they like but there’s having self respect not to leave the house dressed in night wear. It takes 2 mins to throw on some outer clothes.

to me it's not money it's the constant lowering of personal standards. you would never have seen anyone in the 40's, 50's and going out undressed, people during the war must have been depressed and devastated with all the death and bombing but you would never have seen them shopping in pyjamas.

Waitrose is niche-good range of products. Very well organised, easier, pleasant shopping experience. I am not a snob. I don’t think I am better than someone shopping in Asda. I just love Waitrose
