@jordanifueko: Replying to @sta_c88 We are taught to blame ourselves for not being perfect enough to understand holy texts, instead of expecting an all-powerful God to communicate clearly and effectively.
I was definitely parentified but hadn’t translated that to god. That hyper vigilance, fear of making a mistake, deep seated shame, believing I need to keep the peace, etc. It all aligns. Great insight

Why are we better parents than the God they demand we serve?

this realisation hit recently, thos who introduce you to God,influence how you see God,which further influences how you live. until you get tired, you won't even know something is wrong

Dear lord you’re gonna send me into even deeper periods of thought about my issues with my father vs my issues with The Father. Recently realized my anger over so many of the things my dad did wrong mirrored problems I hadn’t yet put into words regarding how I was taught to view God as a Catholic. The Church demanded obedience to authority and I frequently saw my father make unjust decisions about how to treat his children out of anger. I realized his authority is not something I automatically owe respect and obedience to, that the respect needs to be earned and reciprocated. I then started thinking about how the stories I heard about God show a similar parenting style, using “righteous” anger to instill fear that’s meant to steer his children into being better people. I realized that I felt similar fear and sense of abandonment towards both fathers, and yet a sense of needing to constantly be better to earn the love/safety of their favor. I’m still unpacking quite a bit, but the way you’ve verbalized the framing I’ve been trying to sort out as God parentifying us? THANK YOU! You’re brilliant and I hope you never stop using your voice to spill your invaluable insights

I have people mad at me to this day for questioning if we were conditioned to fear Lucifer instead of seeing that he may have a point using his "free-will" to not be forced to worship god

Your application of the concept of parentification here is powerful, but you also helped me grasp the concept way better than any other explanation I’ve come across
