You got to put some round plastic feet like the original on the 4 corners so the staples don't be dragging every surface it touches

The remaining pieces of the base could have been used to make corner bases or cut in half lengthwise to make the two missing pieces.

I personally would have moved the adjacent base piece to be parallel and still had a bottom base with the original pieces/finishes.

Question - what made you choose to staple the bottom instead of gluing it? Won’t the staples be a risk to scratching floors? Specifically a nice hardwood floor?
