Different language, different pronunciation. Sean is Irish (gaelic) where the alphabet it different. e.g. mh together makes the v sound.

OMG! We were just talking about this tonight. My son is Sean. I wanted Shaun. His dad won that fight and he is Sean. My dad loved calling him Seen. He's 33 now and said he gets called Seen a lot.😂
