Curly hair is NOT ’messy’ 🩷 if you need it then here’s my curly hair routine ✍️👇✨ I spent years thinking that I needed to straighten my curly hair for it to become ‘perfect’ 🥲 I finally now love my curls waaaaay more than when my hair is straightened 🫶🏼 If you’re a beginner, or just want to try a new routine, then try this one: ✅ 1: Shampoo your hair twice. I recommend looking at @Umberto Giannini and @Noughty for good, affordable shampoos 💸💦 ✅ 2: Rinse out the shampoo and apply a hair mask with reparative properties if you’re recovering from heat damage. Brush this through your hair before rinsing out ✅ 3: Don’t towel dry your hair, just scrunch out some of the excess water. It’s super important (at least for me) to style on soaking wet hair as it really helps with achieving curl clumps and reducing frizz ✅ 4: Apply a curl cream or leave-in conditioner. This will hydrate your hair and again works to reduce frizz 👌🏼 I highly recommend the @Only Curls curl creme for beginners, it’s what I used at the start and still do! Scrunch this into your hair ✅ 5: To secure the curls in place, use a gel and scrunch this into your hair after you’ve applied your curl cream. Gels basically just hold the curls in place and help them last throughout the week ✅ 6: You can air dry, though I get much better results when I use a diffuser. You can buy attachable diffuser heads from Amazon (that’s what I did at first) and attach this to your regular hair dryer to start. Then diffuse your hair until it’s completely dry ✅ 7: There might be a slightly hard coating on your hair when it’s dry, this is called a gel cast. It’s completely fine, in fact I prefer when I have a cast. The stronger the gel, the more likely you are to have this.
