Vested basically means reaching a certain amount of time in the company so you can keep the match the employee has contributed! (1)

Vested means ownership. Always ask about the vesting schedule. Some employer match is fully vested on day 1!! Good luck💕

my prev employer had a 401k which took out money from my paycheck (that’s mine) and for the employer match to take place (vested) I had to be working there for 3 years (I worked there for 2 years) 1/2

Be 100% sure that you’re vested though! My first job said after 5 years you’re vested, but it was technically “after the 5 year period” so it was actually 6 years 😅

Vesting means it's yours. unvested is not.. what employer puts in is not until it has been in the account for years. ask your company HR for vesting schedule.

I lost my 20% because the company requires at least 5 yrs 😭 but now I learned that its best to invest in Roth Ira rather than max the 10% in 401k because of tax.
