Homemade Apple Fritters w/ Apple Cider Glaze! 🍎 Dough: - 1 cup whole milk, warm - 1 tbsp active dry yeast - 1/2 cup sugar, divided - 5 tbsp unsalted butter, room temperature - 2 large eggs, room temperature - 1 tsp vanilla extract - 1/2 tsp salt - 3 1/2 cups all-purpose flour Filling: - 2 tbsp unsalted butter - 3 cups peeled & diced apples, about 2-3 large apples - 1/3 cup light brown sugar - 1 tsp ground cinnamon - 1/4 tsp ground nutmeg - 1/4 tsp allspice - 1 tbsp cornstarch - 1 tbsp water - 1 tsp vanilla extract Binding: - 1/4 cup all-purpose flour - 1 tbsp ground cinnamon Glaze: - 4 cups powdered sugar - 9-12 tbsp apple cider - 1 tsp vanilla extract Rise dough for 1-2 hours Fry at 350-360 F for 2-3 minutes per side Makes 10-12 fritters Instructions: First, combine the warm milk, yeast, and half the sugar, then let it sit for 5 minutes. Add the butter, eggs, vanilla, salt, remaining sugar, and a cup of flour, then gradually mix in the rest of the flour until a soft dough forms. Knead until the dough is smooth and elastic, around 7-9 minutes then cover and let it rise for about one to two hours, or until doubled in size. While the dough rises, peel and dice some apples. Melt the butter and cook the diced apples with brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, allspice, and some vanilla until tender. Stir in the cornstarch slurry to thicken the filling, then let it cool completely. Once the dough is risen, roll it out and spoon the cooled apple filling over half the dough, sprinkle with the spiced flour, then fold the other half over and seal the edges. Cut the dough in a crosshatch pattern, then divide it into 10 to 12 portions. Gently shape each piece into a lumpy round, tucking in the apples as best you can. Use the binding flour, it helps absorb some of the moisture from the apples, making the dough easier to handle and shape. Place each fritter on a square of parchment and let them rest while the oil heats. Fry at 350 to 360 degrees Fahrenheit for two to three minutes per side, until golden brown and cooked through. For the glaze, whisk together the powdered sugar, apple cider, and vanilla until smooth. Adjust the cider as needed until you get a thick but pourable consistency, then dip each fritter into the glaze and allow the glaze to set. #cooking #EasyRecipe #applefritter #apple #dessert
