my bill went $80 to $450. Power company 'checked' the meter 3 times. Got the public service commission involved, they determined that the multiplier was programmed with a 5x multiplier.

Same exact thing for me. Xcel is horrible and I had to report them to Colorado state. Now my bill went from 6x to 2x. Still horrible but at least it’s not 5 times the price…. Fucking monopoly.

glad I'm not the only one who noticed this. Bill used to be 70-80 upgraded appliances and swapped out to led bulbs. new meter installed 170.

Same thing happened to me!!! I have solar panels, i was used to paying about $7 as well then it went up over $100+ once they changed mine out as well.

My house went from 80 to 750 a month .. I said hold up .. argued for 4 months till I caught the meter man checking it .. lets just say it was fixed same day .. now my bill is back to 80-90

we have solar and never had an electric bill till they put a new smart meter in and now we get charged surg charges and they have managed to get money out of us even thought we over produce each month

We have 32 solar panels. We had no electric bills. They came out and switched the meters. Now we have large electric bills. I asked them they said oh well.

EXCEL should not be doing their own testing on their own Over Charging. The meter has internal programming that can be set to read at 5x or 10x usage ... independent test of the meter is needed

we had a friend that had a high bill and they told her that the meters are only accurate within 20% but I'm sure it's never 20% in our favor

I work for a local Co-Op. we are consumer owned and thus will never install Smart meters. They are inherently anti-consumer. They'll tell you you'll be and to monitor your electric usage and use it

look at the meter number on the bill and match it to the meter. the company installing these messes up all the time I had my neighbors meter billing to me for 3-4 months.
