Do you find that insurance covers repeat labs? Why would you not go straight to US? If they’re having symptoms and their labs are elevated on first draw?

I always repeat unless super elevated then I do US, hep panel, alk phos isoenzynes, GGT, hepatic panel, iron, ferritin

My go to r factor on mdcalc. Also I have seen excessive protein intake cause crazy changes. 200+ grams of protein per day.

Ggt, ferritin/iron/tibc, ceruloplasin, hepatitis panel, +/- ANA (depending on if it’s been checked already/known positive etc) are part of my first set of additional labs!!
