@emilybruth: Four very human moments that are often disregarded by our working culture 👆🏼 Getting very sick, having a baby, losing someone close to you, or experiencing a natural disaster are not considered life-altering experiences to companies, they are, first and foremost, a HUGE inconvenience and disruption to the bottom line. #worklifebalance #burnout #corporate
My colleague being forced to work on the board deck from home while using hurricane lamps during Helene bc the power was out 😵💫

Two of these happened to my boss in the last few months and don't you know she was able to take several weeks off due to our amazing team. Not sure she'd offer the same in return.

Been working remotely from FL for 4 years with people who do not live in FL. During hurricane season everyone groans and rolls their eyes if I’m out due to power outage. I missed a flight for a work trip bc the airport closed during hurricane & was asked to DRIVE TO ANOTHER AIRPORT LOL

I had a family member peas away and it was something like a month process between actively passing to the grief and funeral afterwards. Shortly after I was put on a performance improvement plan because my productivity dropped during that time.

I took a sick a day last wk but told my boss I’d still join our meeting. She spent the time lecturing, knowing I was in the middle of a sick day. It was that moment I decided to look elsewhere.

You popped up in my FYP for the first time in a while, I followed you forever ago! Your message arrived at just the right time and I’m halfway through your audiobook on Spotify-just rated it 5 stars!
