at most i only use chatgpt for like words/phrases with specific nuances for some very niche scenarios that idk where else to look for (thesaurus falls short sometimes) but WRITING WHOLE FICS??? EW

It's in the name, fanfiction. The fan aka, the reader, made a fiction from the original source. Using AI in that is removing the 'fan', the human, in the equation.
