"The government does not have the capabilities or the authorities to detect and defeat small drones and they need to rectify that," Stacie Petty John of the Center for a New American Security said. "Any of these drones can be modified and weaponized," she added. "They can also be used for surveillance so there are privacy considerations as well as espionage concerns."
