Every attorney is a lawyer. But not every lawyer is an attorney. An attorney is a lawyer that passed the bar. A lawyer that didn’t pass the bar is simply a lawyer.

It depends on the country you are in. In the Philippines and some Asian countries, lawyer and attorney are interchangeable terms.
