Flat is beautiful … … no matter the journey. Through her visibility and advocacy work as a post-op top surgery trans educator, @SK often gets mistaken as someone who has had cancer or had a preventative mastectomy. Simply because they are feminine in their presentation. Through her visibility as a post-op advocate for medically preventative aesthetic flat closure, Theebooblessbabe has been assumed to be trans. Partially because she also happens a member of the LGBTQ community. and both of us have experienced these inaccurate labels being used against us in hateful and demeaning ways - while neither of us feel the others’ community deserves any negativity for their decisions about their bodies. We connected over that, and found that although our work isn’t exactly the same, there are far more similarities in our experiences living as femme presenting people with flat chests than there are differences. Gender identity or medical implications are only two of the many reasons there are post-op flat chested femme folks in this world. These labels and intersections can exist in congruence, or not at all. At the end of the day, no matter what anyone else says about our choices and bodies, only WE have true autonomy over our surgeries, chests, and expression. Let this be a loving reminder to the world that bodies parts could never house all of the nuance we carry as individuals in this world. Bodies don’t equal gender.
