It’s just pure statistics. Shooting 40% from 3 is the same points per possession as shooting 60% from 2. And it’s a lot harder to shoot 60% from 2 than 40% from 3.

Analytics say it's best to shoot 3s but I don't think it takes into account that a terrible 3 point shooter, in the long run, will net you more as a mid range shooter. People clown KG for his long 2's

The Grizzlies going from 40 3s to 32-35 a game has been great to see over the last two weeks, eliminating those 7 bad shots has made a difference, if they’d shoot under 30 it would be even better

That’s why I love Giannis’ game. Tough defense, drives to the basket, is physical, has a good mid range, doesn’t care about shooting 3’s and is averaging 32.7 ppg. He’s like a throwback to the 90’s

I saw someone post a solution that makes sense but will NEVER happen. Make 2s worth 3 and 3s worth 4 to reduce the mathematical disparity between the shots.
