In the book, elphaba enchanted Nessa’s shoes, which gave her the ability to walk, and also gave her powers, which accidentally turned her into the wicked witch bc Boq didn’t actually love her..

Those shoes make her able to walk if I’m not mistaken- it was a magical gift given to her so if she’s wearing the shoes, in theory it’s actually worse I feel 😭

In the book it's based on she is able to walk with the shoes because Glinda enchanted them for her. She doesn't have arms which is part of why she had trouble walking.

In the book alphabet gives silver slippers to her sister so that she can walk and in the movie they made them red slippers that alphabet gave her sister so that she could walk

In the wizard of oz, we don’t know anything about her really and in wicked the book, she’s missing her arms, so her being in a wheelchair in the musical is just in the musical.

My friend said to me as a joke, after they saw Wicked, that they could just picture the Wicked Witch of the East pushing her wheelchair but not quite being able to clear the house when Dorthy arrives.

Just keep in mind that wizard of oz movie is adaptation of the book,and wicked movie is an adaptation of a stage play of an adaptation of a book of a reimagining of original the books are more awesome
