Training & Qualifications (South Africa Context) Entry Route: Many bricklayers train through a learnership, apprenticeship, or formal vocational training at a TVET college. Qualification: National Certificate (Vocational) in Masonry or QCTO Occupational Certificate: Bricklayer. Duration: 2–3 years including workplace-based learning. Accrediting Body: Quality Council for Trades and Occupations (QCTO) and CETA (Construction Education and Training Authority). Career Pathways Masonry foreman or site supervisor.
