I was a small town cop for almost 20 yrs. and we almost never arrested someone for refusing to sign a ticket. we just make the cite as "Refused to Sign" and "Mandatory Appearance."

In Colorado Springs we dont make you sign tickets. We just say okay and if you miss court you will still go to jail. Signing tickets was a bigger deal before body cameras.

I never sign a ticket b/c the cops tell you it’s just to acknowledge receipt, but the fine print in our county says signing is an admission of guilt. I never sign them!

This is all highly dependent on jurisdiction. Many jurisdictions don't have you sign at all anymore.
