![Story in caption 👇 Four-year-old Jada narrowly avoided suffocation when she accidentally swallowed part of a dog toy that blocked her airways. Her owner, Jackie, only realised what was happening when on their walk, Jada suddenly started gurgling and heaving up bloody mucus, with one of the three balls on her rope toy nowhere to be seen. Jackie managed to catch a glimpse of the missing ball lodged deep in Jada's throat. Jackie knew at any moment the ball could move and fully block her windpipe, so she quickly phoned our Stoke Pet Hospital 🆘 Within 15 minutes of the incident, Jada was rushed to our Pet Hospital. She was quickly assessed and rushed through to be anesthetised so that the ball could be removed. It was stuck deep in the back of her throat, so the team needed to use forceps to pull it out. They discovered that there was a hole in the ball, which was allowing a small amount of air through. If the ball had been solid, she likely would not have made it to the Pet Hospital at all 💔 To everyone's relief, the team were able to swiftly remove the ball.
