Understanding finances is something people need to learn, regardless of how much money you’re making you need to put yourself in an environment where you can grow. A lot of people are not willing to do that regardless of age.

my grandma just said we were spending so much money on tvs in our house (5 i just moved back with my parents) and i couldn't help but say i could buy 3 tvs with one months rent and i had cheap rent

My first house cost in 1977 $26,000 my next house in 1993 cost $152,000. I sold that house in 2019 $395,000. That house in 2024 is worth $450-$500,000.

I’m in early 40s. The only reason I was able to afford my first house was I took a loan out on my 401k ~8k and bet on the stock market after the financial crash on big names and an apr of 3.25%.

Boomers don’t care how much those items cost; they are trying to say that they aren’t essential items. Give those things up and you still can’t buy a home. Truth is nuanced.

Plus, most boomers didn’t bother with college and nonsense degrees, they got blue collar jobs, worked trades, and were able to buy these houses. Kids now do the opposite and now “credit” makes it hard
