the problem is the school doesn’t use textbooks with examples anymore, so parents who didn’t learn new math don’t know how to help kids with homework. They just send home worksheets. Its asinine.

Or? How about teaching it by using a tape measure and teaching kids a practical skill. I've seen finish carpenters and pipe fitters that run circles around a math teacher.

From a person who was forced to keep up and couldn't because of Dyscalculia I could barely understand the old way. This new way lost me completely.

I tell my HS students who still struggle with "new math," we can count apples and bananas, not banapples. Fractions need to count the same cuts to +/-

If you make children learn their multiplication tables by 3rd grade, they will not have to do this silly stuff. They’ll be able to see it in their head. Larger numbers they’ll figure out the same way
