Why not both? Superannuation that people accumulate over their working life. And a pension for those less fortunate. Eg. Australia.

There is a surplus but money gets taken out for other projects. SS would be fine if there was a higher amount taken out of higher earners pay.

this sounds like they make us believe cars don’t run on water etc, & so to take a money, & give us the right to live off on ssi or not have to work etc, bc we’re “old” & make them misery; of society
