if ONLY I’d realised these sooner!! EXPLANATIONS⬇️ ☕️ CAFFEINE ON AN EMPTY STOMACH This really messed with my cortisol levels, and therefore my inflammation levels!! Acne is an inflammatory skin condition, so make sure to fuel with a big breakfast before caffeine! 🫧 CLEANSING IN THE MORNING the less you touch your face, the stronger your skin barrier will be & the less breakouts you will get! opt for water cleansing, where you don’t use a cleanser, just water! 🥗 PREBIOTIC FOODS PRObiotics add the good bacteria into your gut, but PREbiotics FEED those good bacteria (to keep them alive), so they are ESSENTIAL for a happy gut, but always get forgotten about! 🧴 BENZOYL PEROXIDE
For treating acne, I LOVE azelaic acid as it’s incredible for sensitive skin (it’s not technically an exfoliating acid, so it’s very gentle), whereas I found benzoyl peroxide EXTREMELY harsh. 🥣HIGH PROTEIN MEALS I aim for 20-30g per meal (most important in the morning). Protein helps regulate blood sugar as it reduces glucose spikes/ crashes. 💆🏼 NERVOUS SYSTEM REGULATION Unhealthy stress levels drive inflammation in the body, showing in intolerances, acne, gut issues etc. Ways to regulate nervous system: take 3 deep breaths before eating, grounding, EFT, meditation, journalling, finish your shower on cold, etc (I have dedicated posts on this). 💦 NOT RINSING MICELLAR WATER Micellar water contains surfactants that can break you out when left on your skin. If you use it, make sure you cleanse afterwards! 💤 INCONSISTENT SLEEP SCHEDULE Sleep is the most important thing to help relieve inflammation. Try to wake up & go to sleep around the same time to create a consistent sleep schedule! And use earplugs to reduce disruption! #lifewithmils #acne #skintok #skincare #clearskin #acneproneskin #skincaretips #healacnenaturally
