This is becoming the norm. Even chains like sushi express or genki sushi place a time limit. But I think businesses should exercise their own judgment and allow longer stays, if it’s non-peak hours.

sound like you've been there since morning appt till after lunch end, which could be equal to 3-4 turnover for the same period. They may also scheduled less staff after lunch or close off a section

it's not easy for business owners also the rents and operating costs are really expensive that's why..you can try places that allow studying after dining like Gloria Jeans perhaps . we see businesses closing and downsizing as its simply not profitable .or they could even be operating at a loss

the reason is for waiter can clear the table and setting the table ready for new customers its like waiter rest time before work nonstop peak time

I work in a buffet concept restaurant. Only during PH do we practice the 90 min dining. Normally we very relax with the rules

Usually cafes or restaurants will have this time limit during weekends ( fri to sun) sometimes the reservation if full but we still need to accept walk in customers as well. Late turnovers is bad

Was this on a weekend? I’ve never been chased away by them before. In fact, I was just there today. I sat at the outdoor area after they were closed and they even offered me water.
