Perched dramatically on a cliff above the Tsarap River in the Zanskar region of Ladakh, this 2,500-year-old monastery seems to grow directly out of the mountain itself. 🥾 Getting here isn’t easy. There are no roads to the monastery. The final stretch requires a hike along a narrow trail carved into the canyon walls, following the turquoise river deep into the Zanskar valley. 🪨 The monastery is built around a natural cave where, according to tradition, sages and scholars meditated long before the monastery existed.
