@popculturescientist: There is a huge amount of interest, confusion and misinformation going around about Plasmoids at the moment. @American Problems 🇺🇸✌🏻 Let's clear some of it up. Now something I didn't talk about in the video because of time but that I think it's important is the paper and authorship itself. The paper was published in a non-peer reviewed journal. It's not too say that your paper has to be peer-reviewed for the work to be valid. But to not go through the peer review process means you don't get the confirmation and scrutiny from experts that let's them say that the work is sound and it's contributing to the field. It also means that anyone who pays the fee can publish any paper they like. My second issue is that the first author ya claiming association with the Astrobiology Research Centre in California. There is no such place that I can find. This makes me distrust the motivations of the paper and dismiss anything they say that's speculative. Plasmoids are not sentient. #science #plasmoid #uap #physics
