When I tell friends and family that they would not want to know what’s going on in my head most of the time, this is what I mean. The complexity of the mental analysis that goes into literally every decision and action throughout my day would take a lifetime to attempt to map out. This is why when trying to figure out where to go to dinner if everybody looks at me and expects me to make the decision, it’s sometimes the last straw. How could I possibly in the next 30 seconds analyze the preferences of a car full of people and the pros and cons of each restaurant based on its menu options, location, relative price and popularity and give you a decisive answer that I won’t instantly regret and obsess over for the rest of the evening?

I can only accept compliments that people really mean. You wouldn’t realize how many people throw out compliments as niceties or to placate feelings. I don’t want an “A for effort” compliment.
