I always thought that by doing everything for my kids, it would fix the broken kid inside me. I would literally walk behind them picking it up as they dropped it. I didnt make them do chores or have them learn how to cook because I thought that as their mom it was my job to do it all. Plus I didnt have to worry if they made a big mess. But what I wasnt seeing is that, when they do these things on their own it gives them a sense of accomplishment. And the joy I see in them outweighs that need I feel to fix the broken parts of me. Mamas out there, I know its hard and can be messier, but let them cook. Let them make the mess & then clean it up. That wont damage them. Doing it this way and allowing them the opportunity to make mistakes or messes without making you angry will heal you both. Because thats all I was looking for when I was younger. Love & reassurance. Trust me when I say, you will look back and wish you started sooner. You will always be their mama - but they will remember these memories 🤍 choose how you want them to remember it🥺
