TURKEY LEG RICE KRISPIE TREATS! 🍗 The best part of the turkey but make it a dessert! This recipe from my friend Chef @marisachurchill is sure to be a hit at Thanksgiving! Ingredients: (for the Rice Krispies Treats) • 8 cups (12 ounces or 346 grams) mini marshmallows, divided use • 3 tablespoons ( 1 ½ ounces or 43 grams) unsalted butter • ½ tablespoon vanilla extract • 5 ½ cups (5 ounces or 140 grams) Rice Krispies cereal (for the turkey bone) • 1 bag (10 ounces or 283 grams) pretzel rods • 4 cups (12 ounces or 340 grams) white candy melts, such as Wilton (for the gravy) • 1 cup (6 ounces or 180 grams) milk chocolate, roughly chopped • Scant tablespoon (10 grams) coconut oil Instructions: 1. Line a small sheet pan that fits into the freezer with parchment paper. Snap eight pretzel rods in half so that each rod is about 3 ½ inches. You will only need six rods, but freeze a few extra in case you drop one or are not happy with how one of the legs turns out. Place them onto the sheet pan and freeze for at least an hour or overnight. 2. Place the white candy melts in a microwave safe bowl and microwave, stirring every 30 seconds until melted and smooth. 3. Remove the pretzel sticks from the freezer and dip one of the ends of the marshmallow into the melted candy melts and press it against the unbroken corner of the pretzel rod. Repeat on the other side and transfer back to the sheet pan. Once all of the rods have two mini marshmallows attached, transfer the sheet pan back into the freezer and set aside the bowl of candy melts. 4. Meanwhile, roughly chop the milk chocolate and place in a second microwave safe bowl. Add the coconut oil to the chopped chocolate. Melt the two together in the microwave, stirring every 30 seconds until smooth. 5. Remove the pretzels from the freezer. If needed, reheat the candy melts for about 30 seconds so that it is a loose and pourable consistency. Hold the pretzel rods by the broken end and dip about 2 ½ inches of the pretzel into the white candy melt mixture. Shake off any excess white coating and transfer back to the sheet pan. Repeat the process until all of the rods are coated. Place back in the freezer for 5 minutes. 6. Place your butter into a large pot and melt over medium heat. Add 10 ounces (285 grams or 7 cups) of mini marshmallows into the pot. Reduce the heat to medium-low and stir constantly to prevent the marshmallows from burning. Once they are melted, stir in the vanilla extract. Next add the Rice Krispies cereal and turn off the heat. Stir until everything is evenly coated. Place a lid on the pot to hold in the heat. 7. For this part, you will need a second larger sheet pan lined with parchment paper to transfer the finished turkey legs. Working with heavily greased hands, scoop up about ⅔ of a cup (34 grams or 2 ounces) of the rice krispie mixture. You want to make sure the mixture is not too hot or too cold. It should be warm and pliable. Scoop the mixture into the palm of your hand and work it around a pretzel rod, using the palm of your hand to shape and curve the mixture into a drumstick. Once finished, transfer the leg to the prepared sheet pan. Repeat the process until you have 12 finished turkey legs. 8. Allow rice krispies to set up for at least 20 minutes before dipping the turkey legs. 9. When ready, dip the turkey legs partially into the glaze. Shake off any excess and transfer back to the sheet pan. * They can be stored up to 3 days in advance. #momlife #Recipe #thanksgiving #dessert #dessertideas #MomsofTikTok
