my OCD revolves around catastrophes outside of my control. I obsess over any and all worst case scenarios constantly. just 24/7 trying to prep my brain to survive them all. I'm exhausted

My therapist had the most comforting explanation for me. She said your intrusive thoughts are actually things that you never want to do.

Everyone has thoughts that come and go. Typically, people can just brush it off even if it’s an uncomfortable. With OCD the brain actually misfires causing the uncomfortable thought to play on a loop.

Mine definitely came from my parents. They both have it on different levels. They are very anxiety ridden and were always instilling fear and worry into me about everything

That’s the thing it’s so confusing because it is rooted in being good and helpful but also it’s the complete opposite

I haven’t been able to drive for 13 years due to my ocd. It’s crippling. My medicine helps but still don’t drive due to terrifying thoughts. Makes me spiral into awful panic attacks.

Omg this makes so much sense. I've always had a fear of going to jail even though I've never broken the law. I just get thoughts that I have and forgot or that I will by accident.

This makes sm sense. I have intense reassurance seeking, intrusive memories, thought loops, etc and most seem to deal with “Was I selfish? Did I break someone’s boundaries?”

this makes a lot of sense. as a kid I suddenly realized my family members were all hypocrites and I had a huge fear of being a hypocrite.

I'm autistic and considering getting tested for OCD. one of my worst days was freshly postpartum and I kept ruminating/fixating on if I caused harm to my child. was she crying because I hurt her?
