I don’t know that’s crazy. I’ve had plenty of cats and I just showed them the litter box and they automatically know what to do even as kittens.

As soon as he poops make sure it ends up in his box, even if you have to put it there. Cats usually go to the box 30-45 min after eating. Sometimes sooner. can also buy “cat attract” to help lure him

when i was training my cats to use the litter, about 10-15 mins after they ate or drank water i would put them in the litter box with a treat! it worked for me
