for me IFS therapy has helped a lot. Acknowledging, accepting, and thanking this part. Then working on establishing a relationship internally and reframing different ways we can work together

my critic keeps me safe from abandonment, ultimately. if I critize myself enough, it won't be a surprise me when they do.

The inner critic is warning me about what other people will say if I don’t alter my behavior. The only thing worse than being shamed/insulted is being surprised by it.

Challenging the inner thoughts makes me so angry for some reason, like I dont want to hear lies when the critic is speaking the “truth”

My inner critic is the only way I could function growing up with undiagnosed adhd. I would pressure myself to do homework, clean, etc.

my inner critic is 1000% convinced all my pain came from believing I hold value to others when I, in fact, do not. I like me,but it thinks nobody else does & nothing i can do to see seen/heard/loved🥺

I’m at the point where my self hatred is so strong that I don’t feel like I deserve therapy or to feel better

I find most therapists just get frustrated when positive affirmations don’t work

Yes! I like the IFS approach of befriending that critic part instead of fighting it-- it may be being mean, but it's trying to help!

I wouldn’t have survived my childhood without my inner critic. But it definitely doesn’t serve me anymore- on the journey - hard, but so worth it. Baby steps.

I finally made a breakthrough with this realization a year ago. It's been such a relief to meet the inner critic with curiosity instead of combating or running from it.

it can be a trauma response after years of rejection especially when we realize the reason for the rejections is some core part of who we are (i.e. autistic traits that can rub others the wrong way)

I ask how that critic is helping them or keeping them safe, or how it did that in the past. We honor it first and then explore how it learned those lessons

This is the most insightful thing I’ve ever heard. A lot of my life experience is that people just don’t like me and I’m not good at things. My inner critic knows it’s safer not to try

Writing my positive attributes in a list felt like gaslighting ! I can't explain why that homework makes me feel dismissed/invisible instead of accepted

this is exactly what happened for me. These therapy suggestions didn't work for me, so I started questioning that voice. why is it upset, what is it afraid will happen. has helped gain insight
