Be a great job for a vet. I know a few vets who have told me that they would be willing to sit outside of any school and guard the kids in case something was to happen they be there in seconds

funny how there's always a budget for security at banks, courthouses, select schools (like our local high school has officers, but not the other schools in the district) etc

I work in a hospital ER & we have a many retired cops as security and they are the ones who make me feel safest when on duty.

SRO’s cost as much as 2-3 teachers, & the school district is on the hook for most of it, despite the fact that are employed by the city… and they have a union… which us as teachers don’t

My kids go to a school in a rural area and the response time for emergencies out here is 10-15 minutes. It’s so scary to think about.

As a teacher, every room I'm in I scope out what is the best route to get out and where to go once we're out. Or where to strategically place items in case we need to fight. Shouldn't have to...😢

My FIL was an SRO and he loved every bit of it. That was by far his most favorite thing about his career. Protecting those kids and those kids equally loved him.

Having two kids in school the anxiety when they leave the house is so overwhelming and sad!!! I hug and tell them everyday I love you and as I do that the fear inside kills me!!!

I was thinking this same thing, all of my kids have tablets or ipads for every student but we still can't put metal detectors in all of the schools?! I know this isn't the 100% answer

In my city we have on duty officers in our schools they are assigned 2-3 schools (middle & elementary) 1 per high school

I taught at one of the most dangerous schools and one of the top schools. The dangerous one had an officer just for our school and the other one had 3 officers that would rotate schools.

What’s sad they won’t even let us carry on campus!! Oh and metal detectors don’t even ask admin . It’s too much of an inconvenience for sports
