@graveyard_guru: Elizabeth Ferguson Simpson McGill 🪽April 30,1811~May 13, 1890🪽 Her epitaph reads: “Rest mother, rest in quiet sleep. While friends in sorrow o’er thee weep” 🤍 *Side note before I jump into her story. If you look closely, you can see me literally being swarmed by LADYBUGS this entire clean! They came out of nowehere & started flying all around me, landing on me, the stone-everywhere! I read being surrounded by ladybugs is a sign of prosperity, love, & that positive things are coming. So I’m taking this as a good sign or maybe Miss Elizabeth was just saying hello to me 🐞❤️* Elizabeth was born April 30, 1811 in Chester County, South Carolina to Adams Ferguson Jr (Yes, Adams…not Adam. interesting 😊) & Mary Hyatt. She had 3 documented siblings. One older half sister Malinda from her mother's 1st marriage, an older brother Elijah & a younger sister Martha. Elizabeth married Irish immigrant Solomon Simpson on October 11, 1831 in South Carolina. They had 9 children: William, Mary H., John, James, Catherine, Elizabeth, Martha, David & Mary C. Only James, Elizabeth & Mary C would live to adulthood. Sometime after Catherine was born the family moved to Indiana. The 1840 Indiana census shows them living in Warrick county. By the 1850 census, they had settled in Barton Township in Gibson County, Indiana. Solomon took occupancy as a farmer & Elizabeth kept house. Solomon died in 1854. A few years later, Elizabeth would marry shoemaker & farmer James McGill, a civil war vet from Lynnville, IN on July 4, 1859. They continued to reside in Barton Township. James died in 1887. Elizabeth followed on May 13, 1890. She was 79 years old. She is buried next to her 1st husband, Solomon. Her cause of death remains unknown. #taphophile #magic #fyp #headstonecleaning #gravestonecleaning #cemeterytok #gravestonecleaner #cemeterytourist #tombstonetourist #cemeterylife #atlaspreservation #headstones #gravestones #cemetery #cemeteryexploring #gravetok #satisfyingvideos #satisfying #satisfyingvideo #satisfyingcleans #CleanTok #satisfyingcleaning #gravegeeks #cleaning #momtok #MomsofTikTok #Storytime #storytelling #history #hobbies #gooddeed #graveyard #ancestors #historytime #lovedones #momsoftiktok #momhobbies #ladybug #ladybugs #southernindiana #indiana #indianacemeteries #pikecounty #pikecountyin #pikecountyindiana #history #historytok #historybuff #historytime #historytiktok #historyfacts #historylesson #historytimes #historytea #remember #rememberwhen #inmemory #inmemoryof #inmemoriam #memories #familytime #familyhistory #familyhistorian #genealogy #foreveryoung #gibsoncounty #gibsoncountyindiana
