1/?Per that manual we need to define cold, right? I agree if we are talking sub 15f. Also that manual states the reason for warming it up is to let oil pressure build, not that the engine needs..

The HEUI trucks won't even move when they're cold. This Dave guy had lost so much credibility over this. Cold driving might be where the fuel sprinkles come from 😅😂

It was common knowledge to not let diesels idle cold for a long time. Hence factory high idles. I don’t want to defend Dave, but there are tons of applications where diesels go straight to full load.

7.3 and 6.0 owners manual says idle 15 seconds then drive normal.

You are correct. Almost All if not all the service Manuels say to start it and let it warm up for at least a couple of minutes. It doesn’t have to go up to operating temperature.

On a 6.7 swap into a 5.9 can I just keep the 6.7 injectors? Everyone says you need to put in early 5.9 injector

Ok what weight does the manual say for winter oil an summer oil sir because it does make a difference in oil weight

warming a rig up is similar to idling after pulling a hill before shutting it off. Dissimilar metals heat/cool, expand/ contract at different rates.

I’ve got a 12 valve in central CA. Typically I let it run for 10 minutes and go pawpaw on the skinny pedal until it’s up to operating temp. If I’m wrong I’d love feedback!

you are 💯 correct and there will always be haters and most of the time they don't work on cars or will understand how stuff works

People worry about fuel dilution if you idle a vehicle for a long time. And I let my stuff work up pretty good before I use them. So I change my oil at 4K in the winter instead of 5k

Engine, Engine, Engine. That's all that matters. Well when you transmission blows in half or jumps gears or doesn't move. All the pressures are way off not to let them warm up.

I look at diesels the same as a 2 stroke sled. Quickest way to cold seize a sled is fire it up and go. Pistons and cylinders have two totally different expansion rates and will increase wear.

oil viscosity is way higher when cold in cold weather you should let almost any engine warm up when the weather is cold.

The only negative from letting the idle is high soot and low combustion efficiency. This will have some negative effects on the emissions system....but the emissions system isn't active cold.

He’s actually right and it puts more wear on cylinder walls if u don’t let it warm up
