I bet Windows shows a bunch of annoying notifications suggesting you log into a Microsoft account, I find Windows can be annoying that way

DOESN'T MATTER OR WORK on S Mode out of the box from retailer machines they have a revised version from April 2024 and it locks down everything, and it's annoying.

faster way is to use regedit and afterwards do ipconfig /release. no restart required.

this no longer works in 24H2. just use a ms account. then create a local account and decrypt the drive. Or get pro to start with and none of this is necessary.

IT guy here. Just choose other sign in options and select domain join. Create your local account. No need to join a domain after that.
