you can already use your super with credit unions as an asset.they don't take your super out, but can use it for your mortgage assessment.

didn't we learn in covid that taking your money out of super was detrimental?

💯💯💯💯 Not understanding compound interest and that Super is literally your retirement fund will cost young people hundreds of thousands in the long run

Don’t listen to “financial advice” from a crazy witch, okay? They’re obviously going through breakdown. The boyfriend won’t be round for much longer and then we’re really gonna see her crack. 😬

The capital growth of circa 10% YOY for a significant amount of money invested (eg $500k+) in real estate vs 5% interest on $50k YOY - it does work & help people not only get into the market, but it is actually way more profitable for these first home buyers, great policy IMO

A family member works in approving loans and has told me that loans get rejected if you pulled from super during covid, because you had to make a claim that you needed your super early, which means 1

I DO NOT remember the details but wasn't there a study that people who accessed their super during covid were now SERIOUSLY worse off financially?

It is completely wrong that politicians are literally telling us we have to access super now in order to afford a house. This shouldn’t be the solution.

I wish I was educated about this when I took 10k out 5 years ago to buy a car I needed.. I'll never touch it again! it's also shocking that the gov is saying we should use our super to buy a house it's so messed up!!! we shouldn't HAVE TO DO THAT

Whilst you're losing interest, you're gaining capitol growth. Sewer is the reason there's a housing shortage. Your investing your super, same as a super fund would.
The housing market will keep going up until they build more sewerage plants. Everton else is a subdefuse. I've been in property 24 years.

I understand what your saying but when you already own your own home it's easy to look from the window and speak. that interest for the future isn't helping anyone now and when your in a rental crisis (I was pregnant and nearly homeless thanks to my dodgy old RE agent lying on my reference) yes the market price will increase and its horrible but I'd rather be stuck in an expensive house I own than renting an expensive house that I could be picked out of any time (current LL is great but still no stability for us renting)

That’s fine to say but what if you are fifty haven’t brought a house yet and the house will be a place I can call my own. You can’t always rely on rent

Agree. It will drive up prices just like it did when people accessed their super during COVID.

Plus we just shouldn’t be needing to take money out of our super to just be able to afford a house in these times. It’s not going to help anyone
