As the boss, my rule is if it’s your family, health or education, do what you need to do. If you want time for anything else, just be honest about it. Don’t give me the sick voice and then go party.

Yep. My dad died. I had to fly back home. All my work said was, let us know when you can come back. Don’t worry about us, we will figure it out.

My husband was having PRK lasik done. Obviously couldn't drive and the procedure was 3 hrs away near out hometown. Had to go back 3 days later so why go home and come back might as well stay.

As a supervisor we have a few elderly team members with ok to bad health. When they call out due to health for them or a spouse I will remove their shift so they don't lose points and risk a write up.
