@bonemuseum: Rider bones are fascinating examples of how the body adapts to repeated stress! These extra bone growths, also known as exostoses, form where the muscles and ligaments repeatedly pull on the bone, like on the inner thighs or pelvis in horseback riders. In the past, long hours on horseback made these growths more common, today, they’re far less common thanks to advancements in riding gear, better saddles, and fewer people relying on horses for daily transportation. Modern riders, with improved techniques and shorter riding durations, are less likely to develop these bone changes, but they still serve as a fascinating reminder of how the body adapts to its environment!

So, I’m 46. I have been a candidate for a left hip replacement for at least a decade. Doctors don’t want to replace so young, dealing with VA ortho, yadda yadda. I was also born with left

The changes in my lower back actually kept CPS off my mom after a bad injury. ER doc was able to show I'd been a rider my entire life and it was a minor injury in the sport of rodeo.

I wonder how the age the person started riding affects that. ie would someone who started riding as a kid have a significantly more pronounced case than someone who started as an adult
