As you’ve probably guessed by now anything with flowers is totally my vibe. 🌿🌼 So when I saw a clay artist make flowers out of clay I thought, “I could probably make flowers out of sealing wax, right?”. After a few attempts it did actually work and it really does look like a flower! I’ve got lots of fun ideas spinning on variations of this technique and I am excited to share them soon!! 🙌🏼 👉🏼 Here’s how to make a sealing wax flower: First, pour the base. For this step, I like to use vellum sealing wax and a blank stamp. This will just be a base for me to build the flower on. Second, add a drop of hot glue to parchment paper and let it cool. Then color it with a Krylon Gold Leafing Pen. Set aside and let it dry. This will be used as the center of the flower. Next, make the flower elements. I usually do just two colors, one for petals and one for leaves. I pour a line of sealing wax and then using an artist spatula I spread the wax into a thin layer. You don’t want it too thin or too thick, you’re looking for a happy medium. Then use a 5/8” circle punch to cut out circle shapes and use scissors to cut the circles into petals. Repeat this step for the leaf sealing wax color. Lastly, assemble the flower. I like to start with the leaves. Place a small amount of hot sealing wax onto the center of the blank seal, then add in a leaf or two. Keep repeating until you’ve added all of the leaves that you’d like to add. Then using the same color of sealing wax as the petals, start pouring small amounts of wax and add in the petals. Work your way around until you have a full flower. Then add on your gold center to the middle. 🤍🫶🏼 That’s it! A simple yet beautiful sealing wax flower! Let me know if you try it!
