Singing Exercise: Major Scale Diatonic Chords I was sick for the past few weeks so I've been focusing a lot more on ear training. I'm still having a cough, but I wanted to share a bit of the stuff that I've picked up. Here's one way to get more familiar with the major scale (used in lots of Western music) and develop your relative pitch: singing all the diatonic chords that make it up. This is only a small part of what I've been learning. I'm currently working on the 'Use Your Ear' relative pitch training course and so far I'm finally becoming able to pick up chord progressions and the tonic, and do simple melodic dictations without relying on my 'perfect pitch' / memorized pitch (which is too slow for the task). I'm also realizing how my method of picking up perfect pitch (using associations) might not be in line with how we (or most people) actually hear pitches. Maybe I'll cover that in a future video.
