@royalcollegeofart: Every year our MFA Arts & Humanities students create collectives to work on a live public arts project with an expanding list of public organisations including art charities, local councils and architecture firms in the LIVE Unit. Dora Grabkowska worked with our neighbours Foster+Partners on ‘a playful inquiry into space ownership and our freedom to access and activate these spaces’ on a site just next to our Battersea campus. It’s ‘a publicly owned private square’ our part-time MFA Arts & Humanities student, Dora Grabkowska explained. ‘It’s a very interesting site, the public has a right of way but there are limitations in terms of using this space.’ Intrigued by the in-betweenness of the space, Dora talked to the Spatial Value team at the RCA (Rut Blees Luxemburg and Sarah Staton) who introduced her to Foster+Partners – to whom she successfully pitched her badminton project. With the help of Forster+Partners, Dora liaised with stakeholders including Wandsworth Council, who provided guidance and included the event in the Wandsworth Arts Fringe festival, as well as being part of our #RCA2024: series of exhibitions and events and activities last summer. #MFA #Art #ArtCollege #ArtStudent #Artist
