Possibly a legal issue with Fender. Jimi Hendrix movies aren't ever totally accurate. Some don't even allow Jimi's actual songs because of copyright issues.

something that’s always annoyed me, in The Buddy Holly Story, he plays a CBS Strat with the fat headstock when the scene was based in 1959
