The Origin of Creation: Allah extracted all descendants of Adam (AS)—every human being who would ever live until the Day of Judgment—from his back. The Testimony: Allah asked them, "Am I not your Lord?" (Alastu bi Rabbikum?). Every soul replied, "Yes, we testify" (Bala), acknowledging His Lordship. The Purpose: This covenant was taken so that on the Day of Judgment, humans could not claim they were unaware of, or negligent regarding, the truth of Allah’s oneness. Key Theological Significance Inherent Faith (Fitrah): Most scholars interpret this covenant to mean that a seed of belief in Allah is placed within every human’s nature (Fitrah). This is why, when people use their natural intellect or face moments of deep reflection, they instinctively lean toward recognizing a Creator. Accountability: Because this testimony was taken before our earthly life, it eliminates any excuse for disbelief or claiming ignorance of Allah's existence. Spiritual Recognition: While we do not consciously remember this event in our worldly lives, our souls remain witnesses to that promise. This is why the human heart often finds peace or resonance when reminded of the truth of its Creator.
