You wouldn’t be able to get it placed in your doctors office with anesthesia. It would need to be in a procedure suite & OBGYN only has clinic or OR time. Aka if you got anesthesia, it would require

Also, in Brazil you usually have the option of doing it with local anestesia at the clinic or even with general anaesthesia at a hospital if you prefer. No anaesthesia is crazy.

I had my procedure in Brazil, there was no anesthesia. I fainted because of the pain...my IUD expires in 3 years, I'm not replacing it without full anesthesia. I refuse to feel like that again.

i’m in central fl & i got it done under local anesthesia (cervical block), a pill that helped soften my cervix, and nitric oxide to help with the pain. some providers offer those as options for pain!

literally same!! in Colombia, I had the whole procedure done with anesthesia and it was so smooth/comforting. scared to take it out in the US in a year since they don’t care

They say that when you take it out and put a new one right away doesn’t hurt as much. My doctor gave me local anesthesia and it was fine!

I used to work for an GYN doctor/nurses and the amount of times I’d hear the own nurses say how “dramatic the patient is” for saying how painful these procedures are is very alarming/heartbreaking:/

I felt the same way! I can’t believe they had the audacity to say it would be like a pinch and downplayed the pain which was the worst pain i’ve ever been in.

I had the copper iud and I almost fainted. Drove home had to pull over and throw up from the pain. 3 months later I had to take it out they didn’t even warn me!
