I’ve only heard nalbinding pronounced like noll-bending. The world’s oldest known socks were made that way. It makes a sturdy fabric, more like a tight crochet.

I work at an open air history museum in the netherlands. I love showing Nälbinding. People always walk up going "look they are knitting/crocheting" Always fun to tell them more.

nålbindning gives knots, not loots, so if the fabric gets torn it wont unravel. wouldnt this roman style lock the loops as well? 🤔 tbh, it kinda sounds like viking wire work but im unsure 🤷
