My story of how I learned to draw faces 👩🏻‍🦰✍️ ⇩ Drawing portraits used to be my weak spot. It was something I dreaded, so I avoided it entirely. I told myself it was too hard and that I should just stick to drawing landscapes. After all, landscapes don’t complain if you don’t get them 100% right. But two years ago, I gave myself a challenge: I want to learn how to draw human faces. So I started. And honestly—I sucked at first. The faces I drew rarely looked like the reference. It was frustrating. Until one day I had this realization: The drawing doesn’t have to be 100% accurate. So what if the portrait isn’t perfect? I’m doing this because I enjoy drawing, right? With that shift in mindset, drawing portraits became fun. And because I enjoyed it, I kept doing it. Now I draw friends, strangers, or just faces from my imagination. I’m still not amazing at it, but I enjoy it now. And that means I’ll keep going.
