When I started medical school, I thought I had it all figured out. But along the way, I made mistakes that I wish someone had warned me about. 1️⃣ Not asking seniors questions: I used to think I’d look dumb if I approached my seniors for advice, so I struggled in silence. Looking back, I realize how much wisdom I missed out on. Seniors have been through the fire—they know the hacks, the pitfalls, and the shortcuts. If only I had asked for help sooner. 2️⃣ Not using YouTube resources early: I didn’t realize how powerful YouTube could be. From mastering clinical skills to understanding complex topics, it’s like having a free tutor in your pocket. I discovered it late, but if you’re still ignoring it, trust me, you’re missing out. 3️⃣ Procrastinating enjoyment: I kept telling myself, ‘I’ll enjoy life after this exam,’ or ‘when med school is over.’ Guess what? There’s always another exam. Life doesn’t stop for school—find moments to laugh, rest, and enjoy the journey, because those memories will carry you through the tough days. 4️⃣ Being too shy to ask for help: I stayed quiet when I didn’t understand something because I was scared of looking dumb. But the truth is, everyone struggles with something. The ones who grow are the ones who speak up. I’ve learned that asking for help isn’t a weakness—it’s a strength.
