@theclairenecessities: Im honestly so annoyed that i feel this way 😭 i think we might just end up being more of a passive belief in santa kinda fam ugh #elfontheshelf #family
for me i think the elf makes it too physical. the magic of christmas is their imagination!!

We just move our elf like a where’s Waldo. It doesn’t have to be a big thing. My kids are obsessed with searching for him

Obviously no elf when I was little but Santa was a huge deal- FWIW I never felt lied to (maybe sad) and Christmas was my best memories. My husband feels a lot like you’re explaining for similar reason

I’ve been back and forth with the idea of doing santa for my kids bc growing up my parents didn’t do the whole Santa thing either. I tried it last year and I felt the same way.

i grew up the same way! we say we're doing "soft santa." we're not PUSHING the idea but we're not denying Santa! my husband believed for "too" long and i never did so we're finding balance ♥️

Same same. I feel this way about Santa and elf but I also fully believe our gen of parenting is starting to over analyze to a fault in the name of no creating “trauma”.

I think people make it too big of a thing. we don't follow any of the standard rules. our kids touch and play with the elf all day, then I make it do something silly for the next morning.

We tried to skip it and then the school teachers did them in the classroom and the other kids had elves and my daughter was so sad hers didn’t show up at home 😭
