Here’s what we know... Italy’s Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni and Argentinian President Javier Milei will be attending President-elect Donald Trump’s inauguration tomorrow, January 20, in Washington DC. Meloni, the leader of a G7 and NATO country, will be the highest-ranking representative from Europe. According to reports, British Prime Minister Keir Starmer, European Commission head Ursula von der Leyen, Germany’s Chancellor Olaf Scholz, and French President Emmanuel Macron were not invited and will be represented by their ambassadors in Washington DC. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has not spoken about a possible attendance at Trump’s inauguration. Instead, he said this week that he expects to meet with Trump after the inauguration. Chinese President Xi Jinping will not attend, but instead sent his Vice President Han Zheng. Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be represented by Foreign Minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar. El Salvador’s President Nayib Bukele has not confirmed his attendance yet. Ecuador’s President Daniel Noboa confirmed his attendance. Hungary’s Prime Minister Viktor Orban won’t be able to attend. Unclear if Russia’s President Vladimir Putin has received an invitation from Trump. According to reports he will not send an envoy to the inauguration because Russia’s nominee for Russian ambassador to the US — Alexander Darchiev, the head of the North American Department of the Russian Foreign Ministry — has still not received approval from US authorities. #diplomacy #digitaldiplomacy
